Winter Solitude
At the Valley elevation of 4000 feet, some snow falls each winter and even into early spring. In many ways, this is the most magical time of year in the Valley --- few visitors, peaceful quiet, and a gentle softness. Here the Merced River glides along smoothly, with Half Dome in the background.
